(943.1) THESSALY, Koinon of Thessaly. temp. Nero. AD 54-68. Æ Triassarion (27mm, 9.38 g, 12h). Laouchos, strategos. EIPHN[H ΣE]BAΣTH ΘE[ΣΣ]AΛΩN, draped bust of Eirene right, wearing wreath of grain ears and olive branch / [ΛA]OVXO[V ΣT]-PATHΓOV, Apollo Delphinios, raising right arm overhead, holding bow and arrow in left hand, seated left, torso facing, on basis inscribed [ATEI/MH/T]OC/[EΠ]OI; in field l., kithara. Burrer Em. 2 (of Nero), Series 4, Grp. 1, 79 (A28/R44); RPC 1450 corr. (same dies as illustration). Good Fine, dark green patina, minor roughness. Extremely rare, one of two known.

EIPHNH ΣEBAΣTH ΘE[ΣΣ]AΛΩN, draped bust of Eirene right, wearing wreath of grain ears and olive branch / ΛAOVXOV [ΣTPATHΓ]O[V], Apollo Kitharoedos seated right, holding kithara in his left hand, his right arm raised over his head. Burrer Em. 2 (of Nero), Series 4, Grp. 2, 80 (A28/R56); RPC Supp. S-1450A. Fine, rough light green patina; very rare.
