(894.1) THESSALY, Thessalian League. Mid – late 1st century BC. AR Hemistater – Reduced Drachm (15mm, 2.56 g, 12h). Nikokrates, Philoxe(nides), and Petraios, magistrates. Laureate head of Apollo right; NIKOKPAT[OY]Σ to lower left / ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩ-N, Artemis Phosphoros striding right, holding torch in each hand; ΦIΛ-ΟΞ[E] above, [monogram of ΠETPA in exergue]. Burrer pl. 21, 8; see also Nomos 4, 1389 corr. (attribution to de Luynes in incorrect, that piece has a shorter name form for Philoxenides). Fine, rough surfaces, reverse planchet flaw.

Laureate head of Apollo right; NIKOKPATOYΣ to lower left / ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩ-N, Artemis Phosphoros striding right, holding torch in each hand; ΦIΛ-[ΟΞE] above, monogram of ΠETPA in exergue. Burrer pl. 21, 8; see also Nomos 4, 1389 corr. (attribution to de Luynes in incorrect, that piece has a shorter name form for Philoxenides); . Near VF, areas of flat strike; rough surfaces.

Laureate head of Apollo right; NIK[OKPATOY]Σ to lower left / ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩ-N, Artemis Phosphoros striding right, holding torch in each hand; ΦIΛ-[ΟΞE] above, monogram of ΠETPA in exergue.
