(891.1) THESSALY, Thessalian League. Second half 2nd century BC. AR Drachm (20mm, 4.09 g, 1h). Kalli(str)... and Tima..., magistrates. Laureate head of Apollo right; monogram to left / ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩ[N], Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear held in her right hand, shield on her left arm; two stars above spear, KAΛΛI to inner left, T-I/M-A across central fields. Hesperia Art Bulletin IV, 6. VF, attractively toned, one small flan split; rare variety.

Laureate head of Apollo right; monogram to left / ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩ[N], Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear held in her right hand, shield on her left arm; two stars above spear, KAΛΛI/ΣTP[A?] to inner right, T-I/M-[A] across central fields. McClean 4967, pl. 180, 14. Near VF, lightly toned, major flan split at 4 o’clock; rare.

Laureate head of Apollo right; [E]ΠIAN[ΔPO]/ΣΘENOYΣ to left / [Θ]EΣΣA/ΛΩN, Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear held in her right hand, shield on her left arm; A-RIΣ/TO/KΛ-H/[Σ] across fields. SNG Berry 559 corr. var. (obv. legend incorrectly read; arrangement of rev. legend); see also Nomos 4, 1386 var. (arrangement of rev. legend). Near VF, lightly toned.
