Lot of 2 coins.

(864.1) THESSALY, Thessalian League. Late 2nd – mid 1st century BC. AR Stater (23mm, 6.08 g, 12h). Philokrates and Epikratides, magistrates. Head of Zeus right, wearing laurel wreath / ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩN, Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear held in her right hand, shield on her left arm; ΦI-ΛOK[PA]/TO-YΣ above spear and across central fields, monogram in inner right field, EΠIKPATIΔHΣ in exergue. Not found in the consulted references, but cf. Klose, p. 345, 11th entry for these magistrates. VF, attractively toned, minor rev. die shift. A nice compact head of Zeus.

(864.2) THESSALY, Thessalian League. Late 2nd – mid 1st century BC. AR Stater (20mm, 6.17 g, 12h). Kraterophron and Amynandro(s), magistrates. Head of Zeus right, wearing oak wreath / ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩN, Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear held in her right hand, shield on her left arm; KPA-TEPO/ΦPO-NOΣ above spear and across central fields, Λ above monogram in inner right field, AMVNANΔPO[Σ] in exergue. McClean 4725, pl. 176, 20 (same dies). VF, deeply toned.

The reading of the magistrates’ names on this coin corrects the reading for the 13th entry on p. 345 of Klose.
