THESSALY, Pherai. 3rd century BC. Æ Chalkous (16mm, 3.58 g, 10h). Head of the water nymph Hypereia facing, turned slightly to l., wearing pearl necklace and wreath of reeds in her hair; to l., fish swimming upwards (barely visible); all in dotted circle / [ΦEPA]IΩN below, Ennodia, wearing long chiton and holding long transverse torch across her body, seated facing on horse galloping r., above l., fountain spout in the form of a lion’s head l. Rogers 533, fig. 292; see also CNG 70 (21 September 2005) 164 (same obv. die) and Nomos 4, 1325 (different dies). VF, dark green patina; the lower part of the reverse weakly struck.
