(548.1) THESSALY, Perrhaiboi. Late 5th to early 4th centuries BC. AR Trihemiobol (15mm, 1.22 g, 6h). Thessalian cavalryman, wearing chlamys and petasos and holding two spears, riding horse walking l., border of dots / [Π]-EPA above, from r. to l., retrograde, Athena in chiton and himation and with her hair rolled in a bun behind her head, seated l. on chair with curving legs and back, holding crested helmet with lowered cheekpieces. Traité IV, 574, pl. CCXCII, 22 (same dies); see also Nomos 4, 1240 (same obv. die). Near VF, lightly toned; flan not quite circular; minor surface erosion in the fields.

Thessalian cavalryman, wearing chlamys and petasos and holding two spears, riding horse walking l., below, altar; border of dots / [Π]-EPA above, from r. to l., retrograde, Athena in chiton and himation and with her hair rolled in a bun behind her head, seated l. on chair with curving legs and back, her feet resting on low stool, holding crested helmet with lowered cheekpieces. SNG Fitzwilliam 3900. Near VF, lightly toned; granular surfaces; obv. marginally off centre.
