(529.1) THESSALY, Pelinna. First quarter of the 4th century BC. Æ Chalkous (13mm, 2.28 g, 5h). Helmeted warrior on horse prancing r., his chlamys flapping behind him; border of dots / ΠΕΛIN... r. down, IKO[N] l. down, warrior, wearing petasos and dressed in short tunic, in fighting attitude l. carrying shield with his l. and spear with his r. SNG Cop. 186 corr. [there is no hoplite on the ground below the horseman on this obverse die]. Near VF, dark brown patina with a few spots of red; obv. slightly off centre.


(529.2) THESSALY, Pelinna. First quarter of the 4th century BC. Æ Chalkous (14mm, 2.48 g, 5h). Helmeted horseman r., raising spear to strike at unseen adversary; border of dots / AEIΩN retrograde l. down, warrior, wearing petasos and dressed in short tunic, advancing l., his l. leg stepping on a higher level than his r., carrying shield and spear with his l. and raising his r. arm with another spear to strike at unseen enemy. See Nomos 4, 1228.2 but there the reverse legend ends in AIΩN retrograde and not in AEIΩN retrograde. Near VF, dark green patina with some red spots; obv. slightly off centre and some edge flatness at 2 to 5 o’clock obverse.
