PHRYGIA, Hierapolis. Pseudo-autonomous issue. temp. Septimius Severus, AD 193-211. Æ (24mm, 8.82 g, 12h). Bare head of bearded Hercules right, club over shoulder / Hygieia, holding serpent and feeding bowl, standing right, vis-à-vis Aesculepius, leaning on serpent-entwined staff, standing left. Von Aulock, Phrygiens -; SNG München 219 (same dies); SNG von Aulock 3622 (same obv. die); SNG Copenhagen 430 (same dies). EF, black-green patina with earthen overtones in devices, a couple of light scratches under patina. A fine example of this rare type.
