SASANIAN KINGS. Ardaxšīr (Ardashir) I. AD 223/4-240. Æ Unit (26mm, 9.60 g, 9h). Mint C ("Ctesiphon"). Phase 2c, circa AD 226/7-228/30. Bust right, wearing diadem (type R) and Parthian-style tiara decorated with star / Fire altar (flames 1e) with diadems (type R); no attendants. Cf. SNS type IIh(3d)/3a(2b) (BI tetradrachm); Göbl II/5/2; cf. Paruck 22; Saeedi -. Near EF, attractive brown surfaces. Very rare.
