ATTICA, Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. AR Tetradrachm (31mm, 16.80 g, 12h). New Style coinage. Miki(on) and Theophra(stos), magistrates. Struck 137/6 BC. Head of Athena Parthenos right, wearing necklace, pendent earring, and triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with the protomes of four horses above the visor, a Pegasos in flight rightward above the raised earpiece, and a curvilinear ornament on the shell / Owl standing right, head facing, on amphora; A-ӨE above MI/KI ӨEO/ΦPA (magistrates’ names) in three lines across field; to right, Nike driving quadriga right; I on amphora, MH below; all within wreath. Thompson 322a-b (same obv. die). Near EF, lightly toned.
