SICILY, Katane. Circa 412-403 BC. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 14.55 g, 6h). Obverse die signed by H(erakleidas). Charioteer, holding goad in right hand and reins in both, driving fast quadriga left; above, Nike flying right, crowning charioteer with wreath; H in exergue / Head of young male left, wearing diadem; KATANAIΩN before, crawfish behind. Mirone 55bis (same dies); SNG ANS 1259 (same dies, before crawfish added); SNG Lloyd 900 (same dies); Rizzo pl. XIV, 3 (same dies); Basel -; Gulbenkian 187 (same dies, before crawfish added); Jameson 543 (same dies, before crawfish added). Near EF, lightly toned. Well centered and struck on a broad flan. Very rare.
