BRAZIL, Regional Coinage. Sabará. Counterfeit AV Ingot (63mm, 36.37 g, 12h). Dated 1811. Ingot marked with foundry marks and validation and control stamps and punches. Crowned coat-of-arms of Portugal within wreath; traces of 960 in exergue; all in milled circular incuse; to right, N 898 (bar registration number) 1811 (date) in ogee incuse frame and script PP (assayer’s stamp) in incuse above [T]OQUE (fineness) and 23 (carat), each in square incuse, 1-0-35 (weight: 1 onça, 0 oitavas, 35 grãos), / Armillary sphere within milled circular incuse.
