SICILY, Syracuse. Circa 405-400 BC. Unsigned dies by Kimon. AR Tetradrachm (17.33 gm). Charioteer driving galloping quadriga left, holding kentron in right hand, reins in both hands; Nike flying above and crowning charioteer; dolphin left in exergue / SURAKOSIW, head of Arethusa left, wearing single-pendant earring and necklace, hair restrained with an ampyx and at back of head in an open weave sakkos; all surrounded by four dolphins swimming. Tudeer 105 (V36/R72); SNG Lockett 3519 (same dies); SNG Lloyd 1409 (same dies); Gulbenkian 299 (same dies). Lightly toned EF, worn obverse die. Rare. ($12,500)
