SICILY, Syracuse. Circa 450-440 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.45 gm). Charioteer driving walking quadriga right, holding kentron in right hand, reins in both; Nike flying above and crowning horses, ketos right in exergue / SURAKOSI-ON, head of Arethusa right, wearing single-pendant earring and a necklace with a pendant, hair bound with a band wrapped around head three times; four dolphins around swimming clockwise. Boehringer 571 (V287/R391); SNG ANS 184 (same dies). Lustrous EF, obverse slightly off center, high point of hair flat. One of the few obverse dies that clearly show the heads of all four horses.
