BRUTTIUM, Kroton. Circa 530-500 BC. AR Nomos (7.42 gm). KPO, tripod, legs terminating in lion's feet; two serpents emerging from bowl; maeander pattern under tripod on exergual line / Incuse tripod as on obverse. With the maeander pattern unrecorded in the major collections and standard works. See Triton II (1-2 December 1998), lot 120 for another example from the same dies, but an earlier obverse die state without the cud. Toned, good VF. ($1500)
