CALABRIA, Tarentum. Circa 455 BC. AR Nomos (8.30 gm). TAPAS, Taras on dolphin right, both hands extended; pecten and octopus below / Phalanthos seated right on diphros draped with a fleece, holding kantharos in right hand, spindle in left. Fischer-Bossert 120a (V64/R82 - this coin illustrated) = Vlasto 169 (this coin); SNG ANS -; McClean 549 (same dies). Toned, good VF, bump on edge, some light roughness on the reverse. Very rare, only 2 specimens cited by Fischer-Bossert. ($1500)
