SICILY, The Sileraioi . Circa 357-336 BC. Æ Drachm (31.02 gm). [SIL]-ERAIWN retrograde, forepart of a man-headed bull left / Naked Leukaspis charging right with spear and shield. SNG ANS -; Calciati III pg. 297, 1; BMC Sicily pg. 239, 1; SNG Copenhagen 607; SNG Morcom -; Laffaille -; Virzi -. Good VF, dark green patina, unusually bold for this issue. Overstruck on a Syracusan drachm, Athena/Two dolphins, star (Calciati II pg. 111, 62), with the outline of Athena's head and helmet visible on the obverse, and the star and one dolphin visible on the reverse. Rare, especially this nice. ($1500)
