NABATAEA. Aretas IV. 9 BC-AD 40. AR Hemidrachm (2.20 g, 12h). Petra mint. Struck circa 9-4 BC. Diademed head right / Eagle standing left; palm over shoulder. Meshorer, Nabataea -; Schmitt-Korte II -. Near EF, lightly toned. Apparently unpublished.

Though bearing no legends or markings to indicate the king for whom it was issued, this coin features a style of portraiture which most closely matches that of Aretas IV early in his reign. Additionally, as Aretas did strike a few anepigraphic issues (all in bronze), further attribution to him may be made with more certainty.
