CELTIC, Northeast Gaul. Bellovaci. Circa 50-30 BC. Æ 17mm (2.85 g, 2h). Bearded head left / Eagle left. Cf. D&T 702 (for obv.); cf. Depeyrot, NC VI, 51 (for obv.); CCCBM III -. VF, green and brown patina, minor roughness. Unpublished type.

From the Dr. William F. Blank Collection. Ex Classical Numismatic Group 49 (17 March 1999), lot 19.

Although the reverse has a basic similarity of type with D&T 697 and Depeyrot, NC VI, 71, those types depict the eagle upright and with pellets in the field. Here, the eagle is bent downward, as if feeding from the ground. As such, it is not a mule, but an unpublished type.
