ELIS, Olympia. 83rd-85th Olympiad. 448-440 BC. AR Stater (11.88 g, 11h). Eagle, with wings stretched above and below, flying left, holding hare by its belly and tearing at it with his beak; five c/ms of various geometric shapes / Nike striding right, holding wreath and hem of her dress, within circular incuse. Seltman, Temple - (dies AC/αθ [unlisted die combination]); BCD Olympia -; BCD Peloponnesos -; BMC 6 (same obv. die); Boston MFA 1191 = Warren 912 (same obv. die). Near VF, lightly toned, minor doubling on obverse. Very rare.
