AR Testone (11.92 g, 10h). • IMP • CAES • CAROLVS • V • AVG, laureate and cuirassed bust right, slight drapery on left shoulder; horned and bearded male head on breastplate / • S • P • Q • MEDIOL • OPTIMO • PRINCIPI •, PIETAS in exergue, veiled Pietas seated left on curule chair with leonine-form legs, holding patera in extended right hand and reclining left forearm on draped herm facing; cuirass with shield and spear to left; to right, cuirass with spears and halberd. CNI V 38; Crippa 26B. Near EF, beautiful old cabinet toning, light cleaning marks under tone. An outstanding Renaissance portrait.
