Maximianus. First reign, AD 286-305. Æ Medallion (36.57 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck circa AD 296-299. IMP C M A VAL MAX IMIANVS P F AVG, laureate half-length bust right, wearing toga picta over tunica palmata, holding eagle-tipped scepter in right hand / HERCVLI CON SERVATORI AVGG, Hercules seated facing on rock outcropping, lion skin on lap, right hand resting on thigh, left holding club set on ground; quiver and bow in right field. Cf. Gnecchi II p. 127, 2 and pl. 126, 4 (smaller module; head right, wearing lion's skin headdress); Toynbee -; Dressel -; BMCREM -; MRV -; MFA -; Froehner -; Cohen -. Good VF, dark green and brown patina with flecks of red, traces of silvering. Well centered and well struck. Apparently unique and unpublished.
