ISLANDS off SICILY, Lipara. Circa 425 BC. Æ Hemilitron (43.96 g, 9h). Head of Aiolos right, wearing pilos / Stern with aphlaston to right; six pellets and ΛIΠAPA-I-ON around. CNS 4/4 (same dies); SNG Morcom -; SNG Lloyd -; Basel -; SNG Copenhagen 1084; BMC 1; Hirsch 843. EF, brown patina with patches of green, two minor edge splits. Exceptional for issue, probably the finest known.
