LATE BRONZE AGE. Thraco-Macedonian region. Æ Sword. 13th-12th centuries BC. Naue Type II sword with leaf-shaped blade decorated with two parallel bands. Flanged hilt with four rivet holes and notched termination. Length: 61.1cm. Excellent condition, green patina, a few modern scratches, some roughness.

This sword type, the dominant type from Europe to the Near East for centuries, takes its name from Julius Naue, who classified them in his seminal work Die vorrömischen Schwerter aus Kupfer, Bronze und Eisen (Munich, 1903).
