178, Lot: 220. Estimate $100.
Sold for $160. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

Fausta. Augusta, AD 324-326. Æ Follis (20mm, 2.88 g). Antioch mint. Struck AD 326. Draped bust right / Empress or Salus standing facing, head left, holding two children; •SMANTA. RIC VII -; LRBC -. Near EF, black patina, some faint scratches in fields.

Neither RIC nor LRBC record an issue for Fausta with the pellet before the mintmark. There is an issue recorded for Helena with the pellet, but RIC dates this issue to 327-329 AD. With this coin for Fausta, the issue for Helena should probably be re-dated to 326 AD.
