RUSSIA, Tsars of Russia. Petr I Alexeyevich Velikiy (Peter the Great). 1682-1725. AR 2 Roubles (56.46 g, 12h). Novodel issue. Kadashevsky mint. Dated 1722 (Arabic date). (star) ΠETPЪ • A • ИMПEPATOPЬ • ICAMOДEPЖEЦЬ • BCEPOCCIИCKИI, laureate, draped, and armored bust right / MOHETA HOBAA ЦEHA ДBA P(OУ)БЛЬ, crowned cruciform П monogram; I in quarters; 17 22 across field. Plain edge. Bitkin 3742; Severin 534; Uzdenikov 601. Superb EF, choice Proof-like surfaces with lightly mottled, iridescent patina, one or two minute contact marks on the obverse, possibly once mounted. A one-year only type for Petr with only two silver 2 Rouble dates ever struck; the other being an Ekaterina I (itself not collectible). These coins are only seen as novodels, and no original specimen is known to exist in private hands.
