KUSHANO-SASANIANS. Peroz (III). Circa AD 350-360. AR Drachm (3.85 g, 3h). Gandhara mint. Bust facing slightly right, wearing crown with ram’s horns surmounted by korymos and ribbons; ribbons rising from shoulders, “ShRI” in Brahmi to upper left, “PIRO” in Brahmi to upper right / fire altar with ribbons and bust right in flames; flanked by two attendants, uncertain Brahmi letter on left, “PILUCA” in Brahmi on right, “NAMDAYA” in Brahmi in exergue. Carter 39 var. (legend in exergue on rev.); Cribb 79 var. (same); Göbl, Dokumente 4 var. (same); KM -. Near EF, lightly toned. Excellent metal. Unpublished with full legend in exergue on reverse.


Typically, only “NAM” in present in the exergue of this type. The full “NAMDAYA” is known on issues of Bahram of Gandhara (cf. Göbl, Dokumente 8).
