PAMPHYLIA, Attalia. Caracalla. AD 198-217. Æ 22mm (5.83 g). Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right / Nude Harpocrates standing facing left, touching hand to mouth and holding cornucopiae. N. Baydur, “Die Münzen von Attaleia in Pamphylien II”, JNG XXVI (1976), Vs 241/ Rs 266 (unlisted die combination); cf. SNG von Aulock 4624 (Septimius Severus- same reverse die). VF, rough surfaces.

The figure is described as Serapis by von Aulock, but the lack of clothing and the gesture to the mouth are clearly attributes of Harpocrates. Baydur lists three different obverse dies for Caracalla, but they all appear to be the same die in varying states of preservation.
