Mark Antony. 32-31 BC. AR Legionary Denarius (16mm, 3.66 g). Mint traveling with Antony in Greece, perhaps at Petrae near Corinth. Galley right / LEG X, aquila between two standards. Crawford 544/24; CRI 361; Sydenham 1228; RSC 38. Fine, toned, small bankers’ marks.



Formed in 59 BC, Legio X Gemina served with Caesar in Gaul and Spain, and at Pharsalus, Thapsus, and Munda. Reconstituted in 44 BC by Lepidus, in the following year it joined Antony's forces, serving at Philippi in elsewhere in the East before Actium.
