Isaac II Angelus. First reign, 1185-1195. EL Aspron Trachy (27.5mm, 3.76 g, 6h). Constantinople mint. The Theotokos enthroned facing, holding head of the Holy Infant on lap / Isaac standing facing, wearing jeweled chlamys with three jewels on collar, holding cruciform scepter and akakia, being crowned by St. Michael the Archangel standing facing to right, holding jeweled scepter. DOC 2a; SB 2002. Attractively toned, some peripheral weakness, graffiti and scratches in margins. EF.
