PHILISTIA (PALESTINE), Uncertain mint. Mid 5th century-333 BC. AR Drachm (11.5mm, 4.08 g, 3h). Imitating Athens pi-style coinage. Helmeted head of Athena right, with profile eye and pi-style palmette / Owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig and crescent to left. Gitler & Tal IX.1D. Earthen find patina, oblong flan, off center on obverse. Good Fine.

Based on the oval and thick form of the flan, this coin may actually be an early issue of Edom (Idumaea), before the obverse die became degraded.

All winning bids are subject to an 20% buyer’s fee.
