[M AV]REL COMMODVS ANTONINVS AVG, laureate, drapd, and cuirassed bust left / [TR P] VIIII IMP VI COS IIII P P, Commodus in military dress, holding spear, building trophy; at its base, two prisoners seated and tied. Cf. Gnecchi II p. 69, 155; MIR 18 –; Banti –. Brown surfaces, some bare metal showing, smoothing, some roughness and deposits. Near VF. An impressive piece, possibly unpublished with this bust type. Extremely rare.
