LUCANIA, Metapontion. Circa 340-330 BC. AR Nomos (20mm, 7.78 g, 1h). Wreathed head of Demeter left; stalks of grain flanking, Σ below chin, A behind neck / Barley ear of seven grains, leaf to right; ant above leaf, AΠ below. Johnston Class A, 7.11 (same dies); HN Italy 1566. Lightly toned, some die wear, two small digs. VF. Fine style. Extremely rare issue with AΠ on reverse, only one example known to Johnston (in a private collection), none in CoinArchives. Possibly the second known.
