ANCIENT THEMES. Julius Caesar. 100-44 BC. Cast Æ Medal (35mm, 16.94 g, 3h). Paduan type. Later cast after Giovanni da Cavino (1500-1570). Laureate head right / Crossed fasces and caducues; an axe, clasped hands, globe and L • EVCA (sic) around. Johnson & Martini 1247-1256. Light brown surfaces, graffito on obverse, some minor marks and scrtches. Good VF.

This is one of the few Cavino designs that saw two reverse dies used. The original die, as here, mistakenly used the legend "L EUKA" when copying a denarius design of L. Amelius Buca. A second die was created correcting the legend to "L BUCA".
