This issue belongs to a series that has in the past decade received some closer attention. R. Russo wrote in the RBW Collection in 2013 that this and related issues comprised an anonymous light series that had previously not been correctly distinguished. He found that these coins are largely overstruck on Sardo-Punic issues which furthers the argument that they ought to be dated slightly post 212 BC and were struck at a Sardinian mint. Additionally, Russo put forth that this light series was contemporary to the more commonly scrutinized heavy series.
