ARKADIA, Megalopolis. Circa 225-223 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26.5mm, 16.44 g, 5h). In the name and types of Alexander III. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, syrinx above ME (civic) monogram; monogram-in-wreath below throne. Noe, Megalopolis, dies B/3; Price 746 var. (position of left field controls); HGC 5, 946. Toned, some find patina, double struck on reverse, edge hammered and filed (probably to fit prior bezel). Near VF. Extremely rare, only seven published (four examples noted by Noe, one additional each in Pella, the ANS photofile, and CoinArchives).
