BELOW / NOUVELLE JUNCTION DES DEUX MERS, river-goddess Sâone seated right on rock, with overturned urn inscribed SAONE from which water flows below, clasping right hands with river-goddess Yonne leaning left on overturned urn inscribed Yonne from which water flows; to left, the river-god Rhone (marked RHONE on urn); to right, the river-god Seine (marked SEINE on urn); DUVIVIER on ground line; CANAL DE LA SÂONE/ALYONNE/MDCCLXXXIII in three lines in exergue.
