JUDAEA, Hasmonean. Alexander Jannaeus. 104-76 BCE. Æ Prutah (13mm, 2.24 g). Jerusalem mint. “Yehonatan the High Priest and the Council of the Jews” in classic-style paleo-Hebrew within wreath / Two cornucopias splayed outward, adorned with ribbons; pomegranate/poppy between. Cf. Hendin 6181; TJC P; Sofaer 274-313. Black-green surfaces, earthen deposits, double struck. Near VF. Double struck with cornucopias on both sides, attribution to Jannaeus based on shape of cornucopias.
