On 19 February 197, Septimius Severus defeated Clodius Albinus at Lugdunum (modern Lyon). Albinus committed suicide. Legionaries sacked the town. Septimius Severus returned to Rome and had about 30 of Albinus' supporters in the Senate executed. It is easy to imagine how Caracalla grew up to murder his brother, and thousands of others including nearly the entire young male population of Alexandria, Egypt
