Caracalla. As Caesar, AD 196-198. AR Denarius (17mm, 3.78 g, 8h). Rome mint. Struck AD 196-198. Bare-headed and draped bust right / Lituus, apex, bucranium, and simpulum. RIC IV 6; RSC 53. VF, toned, some encrustation, weakly struck in spots.

The reverse calls Caracalla "emperor to be", a title accorded otherwise only to Titus as Caesar.
