Lot of four (4) AR Denarii. Diva Faustina Senior and Faustina Junior. Diva Faustina Senior. RIC III 361 (Antoninus Pius), and RIC III 363 (Antoninus Pius); Faustina Junior. RIC III 507a (Antoninus Pius), and RIC III 676 (Marcus Aurelius). All toned. Fine or slightly better, a few scratches, one Faustina Junior with flan crack.

From the Ken Bressett collection.

Faustina Junior was born around AD130 to Antoninus Pius and Faustina Senior. She was married to her cousin Marcus Aurelius in AD 145, and gave birth to the first of many children. To celebrate this she was given the title of Augusta, which made her superior in rank to her husband. Faustina was a devoted wife and mother, and accompanied her husband on military campaigns. Her son Commodus went on to become emperor after his fathers' death, and her daughter Lucilla became Augusta when she married Lucius Verus. She died at the city of Halala in Anatolia in AD 175, plagued by baseless rumors about her infidelity
