Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (18mm, 2.54 g, 10h). Contemporary imitation(?). Uncertain mint. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Pax standing left, [holding olive branch and scepter]. RIC V 880; R. Bland,Coin Hoards From Roman Britain, Volume III, The Blackmoor Hoard (London, 1982), 20448. Brown patina. VF. An interesting overstrike.

This coin includes a dealer ticket indicating it is “ex Blackmoor hoard.” The weight and die axis is identical to only one entry in Bland’s publication of the hoard, though that does not note the overstriking.
