SCARABS. Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty. Thutmose III. 1479-1425 BC. Steatite. (16x11 mm). Base engraved with two Cartouches of Pharaoh TUTHMOSE III in the middle of the scarab. Four Feathers of MAAT, two on each side of the Cartouches flanking. Some chips. Pierced for suspension.

The Feather of MAAT represents truth, justice, morality and balance. It was the Pharaoh’s job to uphold MAAT.
