PHRYGIA, Laodikeia. Circa 133/88-67 BC. AR Tetradrachm (27mm, 12.71 g, 12h). Cistophoric standard. Struck circa 99-89 BC. Cista mystica, from which serpent emerges, within ivy wreath / Two serpents entwined around bow and bowcase; monogram above, kerykeion tied with fillet to right. HGC 7, 724; Carbone Group I, 3 (O3/R1 – this coin, illustrated [erroneously as O2/R1 on the plate]). Lightly toned. Near EF.
