SCARABS. Ancient Egypt. 2nd Intermediate Period. 1650-1550 BCE. Green glazed Steatite. (15x11 mm). The scarab has traces of ancient green-blue glaze. Base engraved with (based on what most Egyptologists believe is) the process of “MUMMIFICATION”, as a unique example of ancient Egyptians preservation of the human desire for immortality. Well preserved with an attractive beetle. Traces of green glaze remain. Pierced for suspension. Believed unique.
