SCARABS. Ancient Egypt. New Kingdom. 1550-1070 BCE. Green glazed Steatite. (11x8 mm). Back is craftily engraved showing lines for wings, legs and mouth. Base is engraved with FALCON, URAEUS and NEB below. Pierced for suspension. Well preserved with almost full glaze. Very rare.

The Falcon symbolizes “HORUS”, the God of the sky and the divine protector of kings. Uraeus (royal cobras), is an emblem of Lower Egypt and represent the “THE FIERY EYES OF RA” . Neb is the Nebet Basket symbolizes Lord or Master.
