CYLINDER SEAL. Akkadian. 2300-2250 BCE. (22 mm long x 15 mm diameter). Steatite. Unfinished seal for a contest scene. Initial linear cuts outline a lion right reared on hind paws, attacking a man right. Next to him a second man facing left. Behind him a third man facing forward and squatting. cf. Porada, Pierport-Morgan 173 variety. Excellent condition.
