JUDAEA, Tiberias. Elagabalus. AD 218-222. (24mm, 10.54 g, 12h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Zeus standing right, placing foot on helmet, holding long scepter and eagle(?); within tetrastyle temple with arcuated lintel. Kindler, Tiberias –; RPC VI Online 8794 var. (bust); Rosenberger 18 var. (same); Sofaer 24 var. (same). Green patina, slight roughness. Near VF. Unpublished bust variety, the radiate type is known from two specimens, this new laureate type is unrecorded. Additionally, the reverse has been described as Zeus holding a small Victory, but the extant specimens are in poor grade. The body of an eagle seems to been more clear on this specimen.
