CYPRUS, Paphus. Roman Rule. Mid 1st century BC. Æ (16mm, 3.21 g, 11h). Diademed head of Zeus-Ammon right / Zeus Salaminios(?) standing left, holding scepter and grain ears; star above. RPC I –; Zapiti & Michaelidou 69 (Cleopatra VII?); Nicolaou Paphos II 469-509; Cox Curium 128; BMC Pl. LXXXI, 2. Brown patina with earthen highlights. VF.

According to Cathy Lorber: “This variety seems more likely to belong to the interlude of Roman rule of Cyprus after the suicide of Ptolemy of Cyprus. That would explain the lack of a legend naming a Ptolemaic king.”
