Contorniates. Late 4th-5th centuries AD. Æ Contorniate (40mm, 28.67 g, 9h). Boxer standing left, wearing caesti, holding prize urn and uncertain object in raised hand; to left, three palm fronds in container / Charioteer holding whip and driving biga right, horses wearing palm fronds on their heads; uncertain design engraved in exergue, uncertain object inlaid in silver to left. Alföldi, Kontorniat –. Dark green surfaces, roughness and areas of corrosion, smoothed and tooled. Near VF. Unpublished and unique. LOT SOLD AS IS, NO RETURNS.
